FISHING IN HOWARD COUNTY, MD
It's Howard County Fair Week, and we got in some afternoon fishing between
livestock events.
A green heron ( middle, right ) perches on a rock, in search of lunch.
Joe-pye weed is in full bloom and occurs frequently along the shorelines
and are big attractors of swallowtails.
The parasite, common dodder ( AKA Devil's Guts ) envelopes lizard
tail and duck potato on the lake bank.
Mallards watch as we fish.
We fished for two-hours and only caught two fish, a bluegill and a bass.
The lake was busy and noisy, with a dozen rental paddle boats and
canoes. I caught the bass on a 5-inch senko worm, and Jeb caught the
bluegill on a live worm. We tried several baits and caught mostly
algae-gators and spatterdock.
I have no idea who dressed Jeb today, and I have no idea what
Mark is doing in the background.
