Lyme Disease Statistics
2000 Thru 2007

tick statistics

Maryland is the fifth worst state in the nation for Lyme disease with a total of 2576
cases in 2007. The problem is concentrated in the central Maryland piedmont with
Montgomery having 475 cases documented in 2007, Howard (where I live) having 358,
Baltimore having 267, Carroll having 252 and Frederick having 221.

As you read the list note the nearly doubling of tick bite Lyme disease in just
the last year! 2008 statistics have not been published yet, but I look forward to seeing
where the hot-spots are and if the numbers have doubled again. It's more important than
ever to be conscientious about ticks, considering where we live.
