Winter Fishing -2007

SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER
- The Ice is 3" Thick -
Maryland Fishing We are in the dregs of winter.  The next six weeks, statistically suck.
The mean high and low temperatures for January are 43 and 25,
gaining a whole two degrees in February for a high of 45 and low of 24.
Maryland Fishing
But something magic happens in March with a mean high of 53 and
a low of 31, breaking to a mean low above freezing by mid-march.
The first day of daylight savings time is Sunday, March 9, 2008.
By mid March fish begin to shake off lethargy and start thinking of
pre-spawn.  You can see the bud swell and red color highlights in
red maple and day length gets observably longer, reigning in the
first day of spring on March 20.

Maryland Fishing I think many people during this spell of time fall victim to Cabin Fever.
I've been to the fishing and boating shows, read through every page
of my bass angler and vegetable seed catalogs and the tractor is in
the shop for spring cleaning.  I've recently gone from beer to hard liquor, which is part of the whole seasonal affective disorder (SAD) thing.
Six weeks to go, we are all in this thing together, and I'm pulling for you!
