Evening
Fishing at Buckskin 8/7/07 Mark
Burchick
It's County Fair
Week and my son
Mark took
seventh in
Senior Goat
Showmanship and
third for his
Market Goat this
afternoon.
Earlier this
week I took
first, second
and sixth in
open class,
adult
photography,
with over 300
competing
photographs.
Our Dayton 4-H
Club and Howard
County 4-H Gun
Club has done
great in the
various
exhibits,
competitions and
shows. All
of our animals
(sheep, poultry,
rabbits, goats,
swine) are hot.
The humiture
(combination of
humidity and
temperature) was
near 100-degrees
today, yesterday
and tomorrow
too.
Late this
afternoon from
7:00 PM till
9:00 PM , Mark
Dan and I went
fishing to a
private pond
that we have
permission to
fish. The
pond has
largemouth bass,
bluegill, black
crappie, blue
catfish and
bluegill.
Mark took first
strike with a plus
three-pound
largemouth that
threw the hook on
the shore and
flapped back in to
the water.
Several casts
later he landed
this handsome
three-pounder.
Not to be
outdone, Dan
caught a similar
sized fish from
the other end of
the pond.
Dan caught 7
bass, I caught 5
and Mark caught
4 during our
2-hours of
fishing.
Dan and I got
strikes at the
same time.
Mark got this
lunker in pitch
darkness, and we
finished on that
high note, with
all of the fish
going back into
the pond.
So here's what
caught today's
fish. All
of Mark's fish
were three
pounds and up.
He used a 5 ot
Gamakatsu
off-set worm
hook and a
Yamamoto
Kreature (green
pumpkin),
Yamamoto 5-inch
Senko worm
(green pumpkin
and chart tail),
Reaction
Innovation Sweet
Beaver (green
pumpkin) and
Yamamoto 5-inch,
reverse tube,
called a D/T
Hula Grub
(watermelon with orange/yellow
skirt).
I caught my fish
on a Yamamoto
5-inch Senko
worm (black &
blue laminate).
Mark and I both
used Mega Strike
gel fish
attractant, and
the 5 ot hooks.
Dan used a Zoom
Ultra Vibe Speed
Craw (imitation
crayfish) in
green pumpkin
and a topwater
buzzbait,
probably a
BooYah, with a
chart and white
skirt.
We sweat like
muskrats, it was
still
90-degrees after
the sun set.
Tomorrow
morning are the
pygmy goat and
market lamb
shows for our
children.
