July 4th Weekend - Part I

Kerr Lake is a 50,000 acre lake with 900 miles of shoreline and is located on the border
of Virginia and North Carolina. The lake is also know as Buggs Island and is the upstream
lake of the Kerr/Gaston chain of lakes, located near Route 85, north of Duke University.

	It was a hot, hazy and humid weekend on Kerr Lake as guests of the Betz family. Kerr Lake is always a great way to spend time in the summer and the Betz have a beautiful waterfront home on the lake.
	Catfish bells notify us when a catfish has taken the bait.
	Chris and Jeb show off one of several catfish caught over the weekend.
	The bulk of largemouth bass are now in a deepwater summer pattern requiring the use of Carolina rigs, but a goodly number of fish can still be caught close to structure. I caught this bass with a green pumpkin, weighted senko worm on riprap. Dan has taken me to this location before and we have always caught fish at this municipal water intake station.
	Captain Dan is familiar with all of the creeks and coves in the Satterwhite Point Marina portion of the lake, and we went hunting three days in a row.
