Upland Bird Hunt - Part 3
bird shot Josh with the take-down.
hunting  Greg watches as Sadie comes on point.
Ok, time to flush the bird into flight.
hunting dog Sadie brings the bird back and asks for help in removing feathers from her mouth.  Greg kept her well watered, in that, the dog needs her nose moist for enhanced scent pick-up.
hunting in a meadow strip  Working a meadow strip.
meadow  It looks like Queen Anne and Caroline County have not yet had the hard, killing frosts of Howard, Carroll and Frederick Counties.  The meadows still had occasional flowering plants and were quite diverse.
thistle Thistle.
sweetgum field This field had lots of sweetgum seedlings (the primary red color).
switchgrass
The aspect dominant plants however were a mixture of upland broomsedge, switchgrass and Indiangrass, mixed with all manner of other grasses and forbs.  Outstanding old-field habitat, and which is much more natural than hunting over sorghum, corn, milo and other grain crops.
