Evening Fishing - Christmas Time
12/18/06 Mark Burchick
Santa fishing with his Gnome
buddies
It got into the upper
60's today and it was 62
degrees at sundown
fishing time. I like
global warming.
Jeb caught three
fish on the evening,
while Dad caught
zippo nada.
All three of Jeb's
fish came on a
Strike King, Kevin
VanDam spinnerbait
with a
chart/green/orange
skirt (which kinda
looks like a
bluegill). The
spinnerbait had a
stinger hook and all
three hook-up's came
on hitting the
stinger.
In the case of each
fish, the casts were
long throws into
deep water, and
allowing the lure to
run deep, bumping
off the bottom.
Why mentioned what I
used, I didn't catch
anything, and I
fished all the same
water as Jeb. I
think the
combination of the
wide Colorado blade
for extra vibration,
along with the
trailer hook is what
did it for Jeb.
I was surprised
geese were still
landing on the lake
in pitch darkness.
It was nice to see
outdoor Christmas
decorations off in
the distance. The
shortest day of the
year will be this
week, and the good
news is that days
will get longer,
after December 22.
What a nice way to
spend an hour.
