With highs in the mid 50's today, the urge to fish rose with the midday sun and temperature. After calling our neighbor to fish his pond, Mike, Jeb and I went over expecting a great few hours of pond fishing. Even though largemouth bass may be a little on the lethargic side, they can still be caught with a little patience and finesse.

 

All hopes were dashed when we realized the pond had over an inch of ice over the entire surface. Some of the surface ice had melted and looked like openings on the pond, but that was not the case. This pond will not be accessible as long as night time temperatures are below freezing. So much for piedmont ponds in Howard County for a while.
