SUNSET POND FISHING in MARYLAND
 |
Bass were on beds in the
shallows, with bluegill on the outskirts looking for
a quick meal. The
male and female bass had to be diligent in protecting eggs from the
opportunistic bluegill. They were more interested in pushing our
lures
away rather than feeding.
|
 |
Mark caught a male and then a
female from a bed. The bluegill rushed in until
the bass shook off the
out-of-pond experience of being caught. Hey bluegills, paybacks are hell in a
few weeks from now, when its your turn! |
 |
The lure of the day was the
Yamamoto Kreature. For what ever reason, this bait looks like a bed-stealing
predator, and brought in several fish
for Mark. |
 |
I used a YUM Zellmander,
Yamamoto Senko worm and YUM Buzzfrog, which all caught fish. The black &
blue laminate Senko did the best however, along with
a touch of Mega-Strike
rub-on lure attractant. |
 |
At dusk Mark and I landed a
doubler that finished up our evening
of fishing.

I think I know where a
red-tail hawk is nesting near this site,
and I'll look for
the nest next time we have more light. This red-tail hissed at us relentlessly
while we were on the back side
of the pond. Too close to the nest, a fledgling
on the ground? |
