Dave Knorr and I fished with Steve Kolbe (left), FLW Outdoors fisherman and play-by-play announcer for the Washington Capitols.  Leesylvania State Park and the Potomac River in Charles County was quite busy with professional anglers 'pre-fishing' for next weekend's one-million dollar, Wal-Mart FLW Tour Bass Fishing Tournament.
Steve put us on fish, going to several of his favorite, private fishing holes and grass beds.  I was fortunate to catch four, Dave three and Steve two largemouth bass over the course of five-hours on the water.  All of our fish were caught on Reaction Innovation sweet beavers and Yamamoto Senko, 5-inch worms.  We tried several other lures, and my fishing knowledge went way up, fishing with a Pro.
Steve bagged the big fish on the day, using a Senko worm, off of a grassy point.
The river and it's tributaries were loaded with professionals.  We saw boat wraps with sponsors such as Pedigree Dog Food, Keebler Cookies, Folgers Coffee, Hooters, FLW Outdoors, Snickers Candy Bars, Abu Garcia, National Guard, Bass Fan Magazine, BP Petroleum, Jymsu Bass Baits, Prowler Lures and several others.
I received a warning ticket from the MD DNR Police because I had my freshwater license, but not my tidal licence on my person.  He called in my name and was able to document that I purchased a 2007 tidal permit, but I left it in my truck.  Steve's Bass Cat passed the police inspection with flying colors.
The Mattawoman/Potomac interface has complex ecotones with lots of fisheries habitat.  I took numerous pictures of bald eagle, osprey, other waterfowl, bass boats and bikini-clad woman on jet skis.
Using fresh line with 12-pound test, Dave lost three fish with broken line at hook-set.  Needless to say he was a bit perturbed.
I got a signed, autograph card from George Cochran, 1987 and 1996 Champion of the Bassmaster Classic and 2005 Champion of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour.  I felt just like a kid!
